GreenGeeks sponsors a lot of WordCamps spanning the globe. But it goes further for us than just merely being a sponsor. We want to be a part of the fun!
The staff of GreenGeeks really enjoys attending camps in person. Regardless of size, you can find us at all kinds of WordCamps from Australia to the East Coast of the US.
And it’s more than just a marketing device. We truly love engaging with other WordPress users. From multi-site developers to beginner personal bloggers, everyone has an interesting story.
So, why are we visiting New York City? First of all, who wouldn’t? New York is such an amazing place with an incredibly diverse atmosphere.
Being a Part of a Community
First and foremost, we put a lot of effort into being a part of the WordPress community. We truly enjoy the time we spend getting to know new and seasoned WordPress users alike.
Everyone connected with WordCamp in one form or another makes this community special. And we’re proud to support it in any way we can. Many of our relationships have even gone outside of the community to form personal bonds.
We’ve made so many friends while attending camps worldwide, and we hope to make new connections in New York.
Interacting with Attendees
Perhaps one of the biggest highlights of WordCamps, in general, is meeting new people. While the talks are all great in their own right, it’s interacting with all attendees that make sponsorship worthwhile.
We want to hear your story and how WordPress has made an effect on your day-to-day life.
Some of us at GreenGeeks will even attend sessions just to see how engaged speakers are with the audience. And we all have our favorite speakers for varying reasons.
That’s one of the beautiful things about WordCamp. It’s such an all-encompassing experience that nearly anyone who uses WordPress can find something to attend.
Spreading the Word About Green Hosting
One of our goals is to enlighten people on the impact website hosting has in terms of climate change. In reality, the web hosting industry will contribute more to pollution than the airline industry by 2020.
Which means every website that isn’t on a green web host has a carbon footprint of some kind. While it may be small, it’s still there. This is especially true when you consider the sheer size of the Internet.
We offset the amount of power that goes into our data centers through renewable sources by three times. This means our customers can rest easy knowing they have a net-negative carbon footprint.
Can’t Wait to Visit, Big Apple!
New York is truly an amazing city. We can’t wait to interact with everyone there while being a part of the WordPress community. We’ll have some goodies to hand out while eagerly awaiting to share experiences.
If you’re attending, organizing, volunteering, or even sponsoring, stop by our table and say hello. We’d love to meet you!
