Baynard Bailey

Photo of Baynard BaileyBaynard Bailey is an instructional technologist at Vassar College, supporting the humanities. His department, Academic Computing Services, is inspired by the idea of using WordPress to build a digital academic commons. He believes WordPress has the potential to really transform dialogue, in a positive way, at his institution. Baynard is deeply involved in this effort and works closely with a large number of faculty, some of whom have really embraced the potential that WordPress can offer educational communities.

Sheri Bigelow

Liz Burr

Photo of Liz BurrLiz Burr a new media consultant for bloggers, small businesses and startups. She is formerly a front-end web developer and designer, who specializes in providing UX, IA, SEO, OMG and other acronym solutions for her clients. Liz has been blogging for over 10 years, and started developing custom WP themes in 2006.

Eric Buth

Photo of Eric ButhEric Buth is the back end developer and server adminsitrator for the entire Pressible project. He previously worked at BuzzFeed where he created solutions for aggregating and publishing both editor and robot produced content. He is responsible for the architecture and custom plugins that make Pressible unique, along with the workflow and server setup that keep it running and scalable.

Sara Cannon

I have also previously presented at WordCamps about child themes, advanced typography, and branding. I believe I can deliver a great presentation intersecting these topics into a fast-paced session on typographical considerations when designing, creating, and modifying themes.

Patrick Carey

He has co-developed the popular portfolio theme WPFolio as well as designed and programmed myriad sites in WP for artists, businesses, and institutions. He leads the overall design effort and interaction goals of Pressible.

Jeremy Clarke

Photo of Jeremy ClarkeJeremy Clarke is a PHP, HTML, CSS and WordPress hacker from Montreal. He loves his job working on the nonprofit citizen media site Global Voices, where he manages dozens of WordPress sites, blogs, plugins, themes and a couple of bitchy Linux servers. He has a communications degree from Concordia University, but is mostly a self-taught web developer.

Chris Cochran

With about 3 years of experience in WordPress he has worked on and developed many themes from and for WordPress VIP clients to food blogs & product sites as well as contributed to core.

I’ve done a lot of things completely wrong which have revealed a bunch of really cool ways to do things right. Now that my hindsight is 20/20, I’m hoping it can be used for the benefit of the 2010 NYC WordCamp attendees.

DavisHave developed a half-dozen sites for newspapers using WordPress, and am currently working on a bundle of plugins to tailor WordPress to serve as a complete CMS for a newspaper, including user-generated content. Have worked at four newspapers, most recently as online editor of a midsize daily (6M pageviews/month). Briefly worked for CoPress (copress.org).

Jacqueline Lee DeVito

I am able to communicate with my clients, who range from novice to advance levels of web knowledge, how to edit, changes, and manage their new site.

John Ford

Passion for coding is what motivates John, but some people are beginning to question his attachment to his iPad. Mix equal parts beautiful code writer, lover of healthy living, world traveler, living room DJ, and community giver and you’ll have the geek known as John Ford.

Mikhail Gershovich

Photo of Mikhail GershovichMikhail Gershovich is the Director of the Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute and a Coordinator of the Writing Across the Curriculum Program at Baruch College, CUNY. Among other duties, he oversees the development and integration into the curriculum of the college’s two newest instructional technology initiatives, Blogs@Baruch and the Video Oral Communication Assessment Tool (VOCAT). He holds a PhD in English from the CUNY Graduate Center and occasionally teaches composition, literature and film courses.

I have presented 2 times previously at WordCamp NYC speaking about Intermediate Plugin Development and Contributing to WordPress. I am a Linux Systems Administrator for Rackspace hosting and specialize in high performance web hosting. I spend a large majority of time helping out in the WordPress IRC channel on freenode and as such have dealt with an unimaginable number of possible WordPress and hosting configurations.

Amanda McCormick

I am also the lead on the API reference team, which aims to document all of these obtuse functions. Raising additional awareness through direct education is an excellent way to encourage developers to push the limits of WordPress.
